We have effective Transition arrangements in place for children at all stages of their time with us.
Transition from Nursery schools, or other providers, begins with a meeting for parents where we set out the procedures and expectations for their child’s time in our school. Parents are also informed of all of the ways their child can be supported during their time with us.
Transition sessions, for all year groups, towards the end of the summer term prove successful every year across the school.
We have a planned year 5/6 transition programme in preparation for children transferring to Secondary School. This is arranged by the year 5/6 teacher and feeder secondary school staff. Throughout years 5 and 6 the children have many opportunities to visit the secondary setting. Alongside this, the SENCo liaises with secondary feeder schools, invites the secondary SENCo to Year 6 reviews and meetings and gather information about students prior to transfer in September.
Individual transition arrangements/plans are put in place where necessary to facilitate orientation and ensure a smooth transition. As a school we do our best to meet the individual needs of every child leaving us. This can be in the form of joint meeting with parents and the feeder school, arranging additional transition visits for more vulnerable children, liaising with external services and supporting children and parents with visits
Where children with SEND are moving to new provision we will work closely with the receiving school to ensure their needs continue to be met both during induction and into the future.
If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
